A Time to Shine- 2 Timothy 1:7
"God has not given us a spirit of fear..." Fear and anxiety are all around us as we walk through this surreal time, attempting to avoid the cornavirus. "But of power, love and a sound mind." God is on his throne and called us to "shine like stars" even in the darkest of times. Engaging our Culture with the Gospel
Today we start our new series through the Gospel of Luke, to see how Jesus and the Gospel engaged the culture of the first century, and that we are called to do the same. This decade of the 2020's is in just as much cultural upheaval as the Roaring 20's of the 20th Century. How does the story of Jesus, told through the eyes of Luke direct us to respond in the days we are living?

Having On or Letting Go- The Role of Women in the Church
The stance of the Free Methodist Church on Women in the Church is this "...women should be encouraged to take their place in all areas of church leadership and ministry. Jesus calls us all, women and men, to make disciples and build the kingdom of God.” Today we wrap up our multi-week look at the context that builds the case for women in leadership based on their gifting and equality in Christ, as we tackle two of the most contested verses on the subject, 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 and 1 Timothy 2:11-15.

Keeping the Gospel the Main Thing
Today we take a closer look at three pivotal passages for the foundation that the Bible lays out for marriage: Ephesians 5, Colossians 3 and 1 Peter 3.  But what we see as we look at the context of these letters and the story of Scripture as a whole is the equality of all people in Christ, and thus a balanced view within marriage, of equality, partnership and mutual submission, all to serve the purpose of keeping the Gospel the priority. When people look at your life, your relationships, how you treat others in your life, does it promote the grace displayed in the Gospel, or does in hinder the message of the Gospel?

    Restory of Women
The Bible was never meant to be read like a dictionary or an encyclopedia. It is a story of God's pursuit of relationship with us and facilitating relationship with one another. "in the beginning..." God created man and woman in his image equal and with the charge together, before the fall, to steward all of creation together.  As sin entered the world, hierarchy ensued and it became a "man's world." However, the story of Scripture is filled with incredible women whom God used as a part of his grand plan of redemption, and they became central figures for Jesus in his ministry, death and resurrection. The power of the Gospel was unleashed in the lives of women. What's holding you back from God's power being unleashed in and through you?

When Opportunity Knocks- The Story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19:1-10
Jesus was just passing through Jericho, but Zacchaeus, a rich, short, despised tax-collector, was not going to let the opportunity pass him by to catch a glimpse of the miracle worker everyone was taking about. But what he got was so much more than he could have imagined.  When opportunity knocked, Zacchaeus opened the door.  What about the opportunities in front of you to experience more of Jesus in your life? How much of God do you want? How much does he want for you?
