Having On or Letting Go- The Role of Women in the Church

Jesus calls us all, women and men, to make disciples and build the kingdom of God.” Today we wrap up our multi-week look at the context that builds the case for women in leadership based on their gifting and equality in Christ, as we tackle two of the most contested verses on the subject, 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 and 1 Timothy 2:11-15.

Keeping the Gospel the Main Thing
Today we take a closer look at three pivotal passages for the foundation that the Bible lays out for marriage: Ephesians 5, Colossians 3 and 1 Peter 3.  But what we see as we look at the context of these letters and the story of Scripture as a whole is the equality of all people in Christ, and thus a balanced view within marriage, of equality, partnership and mutual submission, all to serve the purpose of keeping the Gospel the priority. When people look at your life, your relationships, how you treat others in your life, does it promote the grace displayed in the Gospel, or does in hinder the message of the Gospel?

    Restory of Women
The Bible was never meant to be read like a dictionary or an encyclopedia. It is a story of God's pursuit of relationship with us and facilitating relationship with one another. "in the beginning..." God created man and woman in his image equal and with the charge together, before the fall, to steward all of creation together.  As sin entered the world, hierarchy ensued and it became a "man's world." However, the story of Scripture is filled with incredible women whom God used as a part of his grand plan of redemption, and they became central figures for Jesus in his ministry, death and resurrection. The power of the Gospel was unleashed in the lives of women. What's holding you back from God's power being unleashed in and through you?
